A little bike adventure at Soaring Eagle Park
Last week I was sent the following photo of my son, practicing drops at Duthie. He joined the Middle School Mountain Bike club through Compass Outdoor Adventures this spring. It got me thinking back when he was only six yrs old I first introduced him to singletrack.

Made plans earlier in the week to hit some trails with my little buddy on Sunday. It looked like it might not happen with the hard rain on Saturday evening and into Sunday morning.
The sun returned around noon and my buddy was still game, so we loaded up and drove out to Sammamish to ride the trails at Soaring Eagle. We rolled up and saw couple of my riding buddies cars already there and figured we’d see them heading out as we rolled in. Sure enough as we are getting ready to head into the trails the gang came flying out.
Introduced my son to them said our good byes and then the two of us hit the trails. The trails at Soaring Eagle are a lot more technical then my son has ridden before and the trails are very narrow. As we started out he asked if the trails would be getting any wider, nope they will be like this the entire time. A little bit of climb to the top of the section we would be riding today, but probably felt like a huge climb on his 16″ wheels. The roots I suspect are more like logs to us of that ride with 26″ wheels. I rode around with a DSLR Nikon Camera hanging from my neck all afternoon, I bet a few we came across today thought I was very brave to be doing so, but it allowed me to get these great shots of my son.
My little Buddy all smiles
Concentrating on the trail
Fun swoopy trails
Still having fun
Riding through the darker part of the woods
Start of more climbing
Almost to the top of this climb
A little bit further to go
Good going little buddy
Coming down the other side
Look at the brake control
Our first mud puddle all day
This trail riding stuff makes you thirsty
Navigating the roots
All smiles
Downhill we go
Look out that is a big drop
That was nothing Dad, I’ve done bigger..
Still cruising
Map of the trail system
No time to look at the map lets keep going
Group Photo
Here I come
Keep it moving I am getting hungry
Good job not cutting the trail
Little bit of a roller
Hey wait up for me
Weeeeee
Almost back to the truck
Your crazy you can’t ride over those
Sure I can watch me..
That was fun lets do it again tomorrow….
Fun ride with my Son at Soaring Eagle, I don’t have a Computer on this bike so no idea on mileage, but rode for almost 2hrs. Came across two other riders and lots of hikers out on the trails this afternoon. Trail conditions were fantastic all the roots and rocks where dry and only a single mud puddle all day.
Did have a few wrecks, but he bounced back and even rode a few sections over again.
